Eternally--An Original Poem

Preface:     September 12th, 2006-- I was sitting in my rocking chair watching the evening news, when I had the strangest feeling that my ex-husband-- the one I was married to for twenty years, but haven't spoken to in almost ten years-- the one who is my only true love-- but we can't be in the same room together --you know, that fine line between love and hate.... the young man from forty-plus years ago, the one I fell in love with, and the one who fell in love with me..the one that you still love, and you know he will always love you, too....but neither of you are that young man or that young woman anymore... and you both know it won't work, so why even try? That young man of long ago was sitting beside me, holding my hand....and we were in Heaven! It was so real, I about dropped my glass of Iced Tea! The best feeling came over me, a great happiness and joy and peace-- I had to get up that instant and get a piece of paper and write down the words running through my mind. It was a strange experience, to say the least. I am a senior, so I guess it was a Senior Moment, but a really strange one.  I want to dedicate the following words to all those exes out there who still have love, but love alone is not enough to make it work....I think you know what I mean.  And this... a kind of a poem ...and I am no poet... is what I wrote:

                                     Eternally

Though we may be apart on Earth,

Never to be again,

In Heaven, you'll hold my hand.

If you go before I die,

Remember to wait for me.

If I go before you,

The one waiting will be me.

In Heaven together we'll be--

For Eternity,

As True Love never dies.

The Soul knows its Mate,

Though the Heart may break

For what can no longer be.

Remember, in Heaven

You'll hold my hand,

Eternally.

Hey, from a guys perspective, He probably too stubborn to call you up and talk to you. Go to him with love and rekindle that romance, I'm sure he'll respond!
