Justice for Kaitlan

Finally------------- the ball may be rolling for some justice for Kaitlan Head, my niece, the valedictorian banned with malice by the Cranfills Gap school vindictive Superintendent Carla Sigler and the Cranfills Gap school board from her graduation ceremony last May.  Mr. Evan Moore of the Bosque County News, my brother, Charles Head ( Kaitlan's father), and her attorney, John Cullar , have always maintained that the law was broken repeatedly at that meeting.

Today,  Bosque County District Attorney,  B.J. Shepherd-- a Cranfills Gap alumni himself--- subpoenaed the Cranfills Gap School District for the closed session agenda of  Kaitlan's May 25th, 2007, hearing with Superintendent Sigler and the Cranfills Gap school board.---where they eventually allowed Kaitlan to receive her diploma and scholarships but banned her from participating in her own graduation.  I believe the subpoena is for alleged violations of the Open Meetings Act.

The tape recorded session of that meeting will show that the law was violated several times by going into closed session, introduction of new evidence, etc. It is sad that the law was broken to advance Superintendent Carla Sigler's personal vendetta, especially when it was used to harm a child to retaliate against an adult.

It is truly a shame that so many downright hateful and malicious things were done to good folks in that town, all in the name of vindictiveness and retaliation. I intend to record in my blog the statement I read to the board members of the Cranfills Gap School at their meeting the other night. Many people had the courage to stand up and speak out against the many injustices at that meeting.

I feel so sorry for the new young superintendent, Mr. Scott,  who seems like a really nice and caring guy and who could probably-- with time ---straighten most things out and  eventually get the school back on the right track---I just hope he can hang in there--what with all the bad that's only going to get worse as more of the truth comes out---- The wheels of justice turn slowly..it has taken a while for the truth to get out;  however, now that it is out, many folks are outraged by whathas happened to their school and their town.

In my opinion, Cranfills Gap school board members Kenny Wiese, Jeff Rose, Kathie Witte, Shelley Stuart, Virgil Tindall, and Jackie Ray Sorrells are just as guilty of shameful and illegal actions as is Superintendent Carla Sigler. And the tape-recorded meetings will prove it. Though she has moved on, the STENCH of Carla Sigler is still on the Cranfills Gap school and town. I am not sure either school or town will be able to survive. None of these problems existed until Carla Sigler came to town. In my opinion, Superintendent Carla Sigler was a destoyer--a spoiler.

After all that has happened and the shameful things that have been done, it will take a miracle for the Cranfills Gap school and the town to survive. And to be honest, I'm not sure they deserve a school and a town, if that's the way they treat people.  Things done by Carla Sigler and her cronies ..especially Kathie Witte and Shelly Stuart----destroyed the trust that neighbor had in neighbor and literally divided the town...now that the trust is gone, I doubt they can ever get it back. I do know that things will never be the same in that once-wonderful little town and its people that I have loved so much for such a long time;   and for that, you have Carla Sigler and her good buddies to thank. What a shame.

UPDATE:    Supposedly, the Bosque County District Attorney may turn over the Cranfill Gap ISD subpoenaed school board closed session meeting evidence to the Texas Attorney General's Office. As I understand it, the district attorney is a Cranfills Gap graduate and is friends with and attends church with several of the CGISD school board members. Violations of the Texas Open Meetings Act can result in a fine or jail time-- or both-- for each board member. State law has to be followed in school districts, as they are state entities.  That's why you, the school board,  are supposed to know the law, or pay the superintendent the big bucks to know the law, or both......to keep the school board and the school district out of legal jeopardy and lawsuit liabilty.  There may be more allegations of law violations, such as using public funds for private uses, that are forthcoming........  Stay tuned.
