GAP SCHOOL BOARD NOT CLEARED OF WRONGDOING

Last summer, my sister, Sue Lee, a Cranfills Gap school board member, filed charges against former Cranfills Gap School Superintendent Carla Sigler and board members Kenny Wiese, Jeff Rose, Kathie Witte, Shelly Stuart, Virgil Tindall, and Jackie Ray Sorrels for violating the Texas Open Meetings Act at a May 2007 school board meeting. The Bosque County District Attorney investigated the matter, decided it had merit (meaning that there was possible wrongdoing by the board), and referred the case to the Texas Attorney General's Office for further investigation.

Today Sue met privately with the lawyer from the Attorney General's Office. He told her that the law had indeed been broken by Sigler and the Cranfills Gap school board. He said there was wrongdoing and "serious violations" of the Texas Open Meetings Act by Sigler and the board, and that was the reason the investigation had went so far. He also said there was not enough evidence to sustain CRIMINAL prosecutions and convictions for those violations, so the case was at an end.

From this attorney, Sue learned that other board members had given statements in which they said they had tried to call the school attorney but could not reach him at that May meeting. As she was present at that meeting, Sue knows these are in fact false statements. Although that's what board members swore happened, the truth is that there was not a failed attempt to reach the attorney. Without telling this bald-faced lie-- which would have proved Intent on their part-- board members faced prosecution and conviction. THESE BOARD MEMBERS LIED TO PROTECT THEMSELVES!

Even though the case has ended, and no one will be prosecuted or convicted for breaking the law, the investigation proved the law was broken. Which means those in Cranfills Gap who became so upset that anyone would say laws were broken and who insisted that no laws had been broken have been proven wrong.  LAWS WERE BROKEN--law enforcement is just not able to obtain criminal prosecutions and convictions for breaking it!

I am pleased that it is now official that Carla Sigler and the Cranfills Gap School Board did indeed break the law, even though there won't be prosecutions and convictions. They have been held accountable and found quilty of wrongdoing, though their lies have prevented further prosecutions and convictions.

It does not surprise me that they would lie to cover their butts. Not after all the despicable, malicious, and shameful things they condoned or were part of last year. Even something as outrageous as lying under oath to law enforcement does not surprise me. Just par for the course where they are concerned.

What is scary is that these are the people in charge of the children--the students at Cranfills Gap School District. These people have a hand in readying our children as future citizens of the world. As a parent, I would not want LAWBREAKERS  and LIARS such as these anywhere near my children. These liars and hypocrites who publicly profess to be such good Christians set a truly bad example for our children.
